May 25 – Misting Time With Terence!

Hi everyone,

Hope the misting time got you thinking of more ideas! Here’s a layout that i did using a pink and turquoise coloured mist on a template.

Love how I got the heart shape painted using multi medium! It works as a great resist!

Here’s the steps!

  1. Using a paint brush and multi-medium gel, paint on a paper. Let dry. The painted part will be a resist. (see the heart shape)
  2. spray your preferred colour mists on a stencil template.
  3. followed by adding water to dilute the colours
  4. lay the paper with the painted part facing the misted template
  5. peel off and let dry
I even sewed a part of the works using the stencil shape if you look at the close up below.

And I realised that this layout, I didn’t use any pattern paper but with only ephemera and different stickers and embellishments! (I also misted the white flower to get it pinkish!)

So how’s your misting? Do share with us on our Facebook!

Scrap and Love,

Terence Lee

May 24- Life With Miss Em.

It’s always a JOY to create projects with papers, products and embellishments. The unspeakable sense of satisfaction and accomplishment it brings is quite impossible to put into words sometimes. This month gives me the opportunity to take it a step further, which is to decorate using products we paper crafters/scrapbookers are so familiar with.

The month of MAY has always been a month for CELEBRATION for us at home. Using that as an excuse, I went to town with heaps of ideas and decorated our cosy corner.

Experimenting with trendy chalk-art  ….

Here are some wands in a jar and home made tassels using crepe paper, ribbons and washi tape … it takes nothing to guess this is a girl-themed celebration :) .

I was pretty happy with the look in its entirety. Pump up some balloons and tie them with ribbons and you’re all set! :)

Happy FRIDAY !

xo,

em

May 22 – Opposites Attack – Scrap Along Session 8

Happy Wednesday once again! How have your week been so far? Hang in there for this is a short week with a public holiday! HIP HIP HURRAY!!

MER’S ALBUM: Page 13

Here are the materials i used for this page, including a lovely cloud shape from the cover of the 5th & Frolic paper pad. I thought the duck looks pretty cute in polka dots!

Put them together simply and embellish with the pearl dots!

MER’S ALBUM: Page 14

This next page is done directly behind the above layout. As the back of the above layout is plain white, i gathered many of the leftover strips and picked out those i love…

I glued them down one after another, and added very simple embellishments! *hees* That’s it from me!

SHMOO’S ALBUM: Page 13

Here are the materials I chose for Page 13.  I decided to use ore of the washi tape since I haven’t been using that much and I was inspired by how Mer used it to create photo mats.

I also added in chipboard letters to stand out against the sea of ‘pink’! haha

SHMOO’S ALBUM: Page 14

For this page, I decided to use these soft pastel coloured materials:

I cut out a few houses from the teal coloured paper and used the rest of the paper (the back) to create the white photo mat.

20th May – At Home with Aida

Hello scrappers !!

I love small handmade books with tiny, interesting details, books small enough to fit nicely in my palms. Small projects are fun to make and wonderful for using up the metal embellishments I’ve been collecting. One other product I use frequently on small books are the K&Company ephemera as they come in so many wonderful varieties and themes. Here is the book I made with a cover that features an embossed pattern paper which I misted.

These are the metal details on the book’s spine :

This is a closer look at the misted embossed pattern paper.

These are some of the steps : choose 2 to 3 colors that match, then mist one color at a time on different patches of the paper. Wipe off any excess mist with a kitchen towel and the embossed portions of the design can be seen more clearly.

I like gold mist and to get speckles of it on the paper, I spritz the mist on to a mat (or waxed paper), then quickly press the pattern paper on the dots of mist. Lift and dry with a heating tool.

After the paper had dried completely, I used it to make a cover for the mini book :

Using mists on projects or art work is alot of fun as half the time, the results are unpredictable. There is a spontaneity to the work, you learn to let go, accept the patches of color and work with it. Fairly often Singapore scrappers want perfect results and find it hard to take the mistakes or the randomness of mists. All I can say is, it’s OK …….. practice and you will get better at manipulating the random patches of color, you will get better at seeing design in the splotches.

Happy misting, remember it is FUN !!

*xoxoxo* Aida
