Welcome back to our weekly showdown! This week, we will be bringing you one layout each, from the same materials that we picked together. Here’s what we’ve chosen:

Yup, we picked the 8×8″ paper pack from Glitz Unchartered Waters collection, Elle’s Studio Serendipity Circles, Heidi Swapp’s pack of embellishment and we each took a Adirondack Dimensional Pearl.
THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: “Rainbow” – let’s see how each of us had fun with the rainbow theme! Strangely enough, both of us ended up using the word rainbow as part of our title!! But it’s fun how our 2 layouts turned out so different despite using the same set of materials!
MER’S LAYOUT:
Well, recently i have been bitten by the watercolour bug and i love that look anywhere! For this particular layout, i started with a white cardstock and, using a brush, used Tattered Angels’ turquoise mist and water for the background. I then added my favourite papers from the pack and topped it off with the Adirondack dimensional pearls, which i spread around with a paintbrush and water.

I love adding circles to my layouts as well and the Elle’s Studio pack add such a nice detail, especially with the faux stitches!

SHMOO’S LAYOUT:
I looked for a photo that would pick out colours found in the papers and settled on a photo taken on a day when my daughter was feeling a little melancholy. I found a quote on the internet about rainbows that fit just right and decided to build the whole layout around the quote. I did lots and lots of stamping (rainbow coloured and standard black) and hardly used any of the papers at all…haha! Just enough for a few rainclouds and a rainbow banner… then finished off with a bit of mist here and there for texture.

I had lots of fun doing ‘rainbow’ stamping:

and here’s where I used the dimensional pearls: as ‘fake thread’ in the button, staining the letters and tiny dots:

We hope you enjoyed today’s ‘rainbow showdown’!

Hello lovelies,
In the month of June, it’s all about Hearts and Rainbows in Papermarket !!
When I was a little girl, I saw a double rainbow one day, when my pa was driving me to a neighbouring town. I will never forget that special moment with him. God sets His rainbow in the sky as His promise and reminder that everything will be alright.
And that’s what I always tell my children, when things get tough in life, one has to perservere. As without the rain, there is no rainbow. Sharing a cheerful colourful layout with you today, one that will make you smile I hope.
Loving the Soft Spoken Embellishments and Themed Cards /Pocket Pages from Me&my Big Ideas. The bright and colourful Clear Cut Shapes from Little Yellow Bicycles are just perfect for the rainbow theme. I have also used the pretty trims from Webster’s Pages and lots of fun misting and watercolour play in this page.
I hope you like the project shared today. And do remember that , there is nothing more beautiful than a rainbow, but it takes both rain and sunshine to make one. If life is to be rounded and many-coloured, like a rainbow, both joy and sorrow must come to it.
Have a colourful Tuesday !!
love,
jaz

Project heART notecards are really handy and these pocket-sized cards bring back nostalgic memories from my varsity days! We used mini encouragement cards to pen down our words of encouragement especially examination time. (Any Crusaders out there? you should know what I’m talking about
)

Flipped these altered notecards over and they possibly served the same purpose. Definitely more colorful and accessorized! It’s a great platform to use up those unused stash laying around on your table too.

So, join us this June, together with the rest of us at Papermarket, as we embark on Project heArt that connects us. Through our love for ART! Do approach our staff for more details!

This month, PaperMarket’s been giving out notecards for trading and we hope you are having tons of fun exchanging them!! Mer and Shmoo will be ‘attacking’ the notecards this week and we hope you are inspired to join in!
Mer’s Notecards
These cards are the perfect size for Project Life and i love how little one need to decorate, to make them look pretty! I painted them all with the corresponding colours, red with red water colour, orange with orange and so on….

Washi tapes, stickers and rub-ons work best in my opinion!

I also added some stitching to add a different dimension to the notecards.

I love the notecards, so little, yet so full of fun! Hope to see your designs in our stores soon!
Shmoo’s Notecards:
These cards are great for making ATCs – i.e. Artist Trading Cards, so I decided to alter the cards using my favourite go-to techniques – inking and stamping! My favourite background for stamping and inking is storybook paper so I cut out the main image from each card, then covered the rest of the card with storybook paper. Then I had fun trying to incorporate the original image back into the card while trying to blend it with the more ‘vintage’ style of the storybook paper.
Here’s what I came up with:

Altering notecards is a cool fun way to challenge yourself and play on a small scale without the pressure of a huge layout or mini album! Give it a go! We can’t wait to see your creations!

When I was young, my friends and I had an apparent obsession with card trading. Recess could become an occassion of trade wars. We called it the Friendship cards. We would each doodle on small pieces of cardboard papers and we would paste the photos of our favourite actors/actresses onto the back of the cards. LOL !
And now,….I am so excited to see Papermarket is having such a fun card trading for the month of June. I have excitedly dressed up my cards for friends around me. And my, how addictive one can get making all these.
Sincere thank you to everyone for making my heart smile with all the pretty cards I have received
This card trading is so much fun ! Oh, well…friendship is magical !!!
Have a Sweet Tuesday everyone
Love,
jaz

Hello scrappers ! This June it’s all about hearts and rainbows.

Children are the perfect subjects to pair off with rainbows and in the layout, I’ve use old photos of my daughter when she was 4 years old at kindie. The photos were taken way before I had any experience in photography and my daughter ended up too small in them which posed a problem for layouts. Ideally the faces of the subject should be clear and fill a whole frame of a 4R sized photo. One solution with older photos (or badly taken photos) would be to silhouette them, ie. to cut around them, cropping away all the unsuitable background. What I managed to create was a layout where the small children seem to be part of a story book page with the rainbows breaking up the layout into sections.
Here are the details :

Products used were : Webster’s Pages Citrus Squeeze, Simple Stories, Echo Park, Crate paper chipboards and Making Memories alphabets.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope your June is fun !

Hi everyone,
as this is the month of june where we have more fun and connect with people, I decided to do a layout on a photo that we took recently just for some fun! (Spot any familiar people? hahaa) Just a simple stick and paste layout with a few dimensions here and there.

As you can see from the close up, I actually used a papermarket voucher as part of the layout because it has expired! But if your vouchers are expiring, feel free to go down to the store to get an extended one! Also, I have a added a rainbow notecard in the layout, do feel free to ask for one to write messages and exchange with your scrapping friends, family and staff! (psst, you get something great in exchange with us!!!! and also prizes when your card is the nicest!!)

Hope to keep you inspired and start thinking of using funny things to scrap!

In case you haven’t heard, we are having a donation card drive with RAINBOW centre and we would like to aim as many cards as we can to help for a good cause!!! These cards will be sold by the organisation as a fund raiser! this is the absolute best time to start using your old supplies!!! The details are below:

The cards do not need to be acid-free but must come with a envelope! I will feature a few of my card ideas as well as others next week so stay tuned!
Love,
terence Lee
